Dream Ticket: A Peppered Pony Tote That Plucks At Our Heartstrings

We don't often commit to big-ticket purchases on impulse. But when you find the one, it's really way too hard to settle for less. In this case, it's the Alexander McQueen tote that stole mine hearts (and possibly a whole chunk of our bank accounts). This is not just any carryall that we'll stuff full of newspapers, our iPad, and an afternoon snack. This is a prime example of a big investment piece for decades of serious style. The De-manta tote may be fairly simple in shape, but we fell hard for the drama in the details—the classic black-and-white pony print, and the folded flaps that hug a short top-handle, and a wide, exposed-zipper opening are all mega-charming. Paychecks will come and go, but prized handbag like this will rotate in our wardrobe forever.

Battle between big and small bags for Fall

Bags for Fall 2011: The battle between Big versus Small Designs

Fashion Face-Off: the game

Try as they might, bag ladies who love their stuff won't ever be able to get through the day with just a little ole mini bag. Concurrently, the light-loaders among us won't ever feel comfortable lugging around anything larger than a satchel. The big-versus-small debate is one that hinges on personality; hoarders versus editors, collectors versus trimmers, maximalists versus minimalists. And this fall, the battle is heating up more than ever, with styles of every size tempting devotees of both sides to defect. And you know, what you carry says loads about who you are and your style! We took the liberty of matching up some similar-looking bags of both varieties to help you figure out which side you're really on. So, tell us—would you rather go big and beautiful or stay small and chic?

Plastic Bodega Bags, Done Up As Real, Leather Handbags

Lots of eco-minded folks have made good on reducing this plastic by creating reusable, bring-with-you bags, to much acclaim. But Cast of Vices are the first with this wonderful and stylish way to carry your groceries. The came up with the Leather totes, dead-ringers for corner-store plastic bags.

The lambskin carry-alls are hand-embossed.  It’s a significant upgrade from the pollutant plastic bag and have a prisetag around $200 (€145) (American Rag) Pricey, yes, but these luxe leather bags are probably the coolest way to “do your part”.
